Cobra Commander regains control of Cobra in a coup (by Lowlight) over Serpentor. As punishment Serpentor is fused with an iguana.
The DiC run dropped the Sunbow-era public-service spots in favor of leaner, plot-driven endings. Continuity nods to the Sunbow era appear when convenient and are sidelined when the toy slate of the moment took priority. Morality plays remain, but the editorial voice is tighter.
